St. Carlo Acutis: Patron Saint of the PeakDay App

This October, CCL has a special reason to celebrate. For the first time, we celebrate the feast day of St. Carlo Acutis, canonized just last year on September 7, 2025. And around here, Carlo feels a little like family.

When we were developing the PeakDay app, we knew we were taking on something that would require plenty of technical know-how, patience and probably a few prayers! So we adopted Blessed Carlo Acutis as our special patron. At the time, he was still Blessed Carlo. We began asking for his guidance and help during our daily Angelus, which the CCL staff prays together at noon.

We have continued that tradition ever since.

It seems fitting that Carlo would have a special place in the development of a Catholic fertility app. He was a teenager who understood technology and knew how to use it for something much bigger than entertainment. Carlo taught himself computer programming and designed websites, including one dedicated to Eucharistic miracles. He saw the internet as a tool that could help people discover Jesus.

But technology was never the center of Carlo’s life. Jesus was. The Eucharist was at the heart of his faith. He attended daily Mass, spent time in Eucharistic adoration and had a remarkable love for the Real Presence. Carlo famously described the Eucharist as his “highway to heaven.”

That is perhaps what we love most about having Carlo as the patron of PeakDay. He reminds us that technology is simply a tool. What matters is where it leads us.

A new app can be exciting. A clever piece of technology can solve a problem. But helping young women and couples grow in their understanding of fertility, marriage and God’s plan for their family? That is the real goal.

So this October 12, as we celebrate the feast of St. Carlo Acutis, the CCL staff will have an especially big “thank you” for our heavenly tech helper.

St. Carlo Acutis, patron of the PeakDay app, pray for us! And please keep helping us work out those technology glitches. We still need you!
