Learning NFP – Your Way

From Frank Sinatra to Burger King, many people love to have it “My Way.” At the Couple to Couple League (CCL), that philosophy holds true when it comes to learning Natural Family Planning (NFP). While we remain firmly rooted in our couple-to-couple teaching model, today’s couples have more options than ever to learn NFP in a way that fits their lifestyle, schedule, and preferences.

The most popular format right now is our video-based, Self-Paced course. Couples receive three classes, released one week apart, and can complete them on their own schedule. Once finished, they meet virtually with a Mentor Teaching Couple to ask questions and discuss their charts. Thanks to our national network and varying time zones, there’s almost always a convenient appointment time available. This format is ideal for couples who value flexibility and prefer working through content at their own pace.

Live Online: Interactive and Convenient

A close second in popularity is our Live Online course, a real-time virtual class held monthly over three sessions. This setup is perfect for long-distance engaged couples or married couples with children—many of our students take classes after their kids are asleep, no babysitter needed! With high demand and often full seats, this format is a great fit for those who enjoy group interaction and a set meeting time.

Onsite: The Classic In-Person Experience

Our Onsite classes offer a more traditional classroom approach, taking place in parishes, hospitals, or even Teaching Couples’ homes. Spaced a month apart over three sessions, this format appeals to those who value face-to-face learning and the structure of a fixed time and place. It’s a personal, grounded approach that many couples continue to appreciate.

One-to-One: Maximum Flexibility and Personalization

A newer and increasingly popular option is the One-to-One format. It is designed especially for couples with tight timelines or unique scheduling needs. In this format, couples watch instructional videos and meet virtually with a Teaching Couple or coach—on a customized, often accelerated schedule. This one-on-one environment allows for deeper discussion, flexible timing, and tailored teaching. Some couples may need to complete their course quickly due to wedding deadlines or other life events, and choose One-to-One. Teachers can adjust the focus based on the couple’s needs and interests.

After the core course, couples can explore customized topics such as “Learning NFP to Achieve Pregnancy,” “Stress and Illness Impacts,” or “Discontinuing Hormonal Contraceptives.” They also receive the option to schedule bonus follow-up sessions. These can reinforce learning, build charting confidence, and apply NFP more fully to their marriage.

Join the Mission: Become a Teaching Couple

All of these formats are possible thanks to the generosity and dedication of our volunteer Teaching Couples. Whether you’re passionate about teaching in-person or online, there’s a teaching mode that fits your life, too. Do you feel called to support other couples on their NFP journey?
