CCL’s Mission Helps Families Thrive in Kumbo

The Couple to Couple League’s mission reaches far beyond the United States. In Kumbo, Cameroon, it’s growing stronger every year. Through a partnership with the Kumbo Diocesan Family Life Office (DFLO), couples are learning and teaching Natural Family Planning (NFP) with confidence.

Donor Impact

Thanks to the support of our CCL benefactors, NFP education is transforming marriages and communities in this vibrant corner of West Africa. The Kumbo DFLO regularly teaches 60 – 80 student couples each year. Recently, in early 2025, the DFLO trained 15 couples to become NFP teachers in their parishes and pastoral zones. They also trained 37 additional couples as new NFP users in four different parishes across the region. Each training included instruction on the Sympto-Thermal Method (STM), Theology of the Body, communication, and follow-up strategies.

The teachers received BBT thermometers, donated by CCL and delivered with the help of a visiting priest. These tools are essential for learning NFP accurately and confidently. “Thank you again and again for the BBT thermometers,” wrote Sebastian and Clarisse Yufenyuy, the coordinating teaching couple in Kumbo. “Your support makes our work possible,” they added.

Real Couples

Couples in the program say NFP is deepening their love and improving communication in their marriages. Leonard and Esther Ngaiwir, now teaching couples, shared, “We love NFP because it is healthy and has improved our relationship.” They’ve used NFP for five years and now feel ready to teach others in their parish.

Syphrosia Tatah reflected on her journey: “We didn’t believe in NFP until six years after our wedding.” She shared, “Now we regret not starting sooner. Being trained as teachers has made us more open and united.”

Gibson and Collette Ngala explained how NFP changed their lives. “Before NFP, we argued often about intimacy,” they said. “We were always uncertain about pregnancy and full of fear. But now, we understand our cycles and feel confident in our decisions.”

Edison and Helen Yingfu said, “We’re overwhelmed by the knowledge we’ve gained from the training.” They thanked the trainers and the DFLO for the opportunity.

Multiplying Impact

The NFP training in Kumbo includes more than just fertility education. It teaches communication skills, parenting, and respect for life. Couples learn how to share their knowledge with others and strengthen their marriages. With each new teaching couple, the impact multiplies.

These local leaders are building a culture of life, one family at a time. Thank you to Sebastian and Clarisse in Kumbo and to all our teaching couples and volunteers. To our benefactors & donors, our generosity makes this possible – from Cameroon to your parish. Thank you for investing in stronger marriages and faithful families. Because of you, the mission continues.
