Revival Is Coming

Evangelize. Revival. Jubilee. What do these words mean to you? This summer, they took on a new meaning for me. We were blessed to attend the National Eucharistic Congress as a CCL team, but we each walked away with an incredibly personal encounter with Christ. These words were not only the rally cry for the week but a call to action; one I’ve been thinking about bringing to our mission at CCL.

Bearers of Light

In his keynote address, Bishop Robert Barron said, “We’re meant to be the bearers of light to the world, the Church that goes out from itself. Catholics are just shy of a quarter of the population. What if 70 million Catholics began to live their faith radically and dramatically – body offered, blood poured out? We would change the country.”

In reflecting on the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience, he went on to say, “Chastity means living ones’ sexual life in a morally and spiritually responsible way. The Church’s sexual teaching is to bring the whole of one’s sexuality under the aegis of love. According to St. Thomas Aquinas, love is willing the good of the other. That’s the whole Christian life. What if 70 million Catholics decided to live according to chastity? What would happen to abortion, sexual abuse, pornography, the hookup culture, [contraception], and objectification of men and women? All of that would be attacked and undermined.”

Amplify

This is where we come in. This is the moment we’ve been preparing for. CCL has always taken a grassroots approach to our mission. Those roots run deep and there are many roles that make up our outreach – students, promoters, Teaching Couples, coaches, staff, Board, and donors. All are necessary in amplifying the Church’s message of the beauty of a life lived in authentic love and chastity.

Now, more than ever, the message of NFP is critical in our culture. So many of our brothers and sisters in Christ have missed the opportunity to learn and appreciate the gift of their fertility the way God intended; to fully know their worth. That’s why CCL’s taken the time to create new resources so we can bring everyone into the fold. From the first experiences of Mother/Daughter and Young Adult, to discerning the right method with Natural Plan and Fertility Science Institute, to full courses for each season in life – with your help, we are bringing the message of NFP to the Universal Church.

Restoring Hope

As we look toward the Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis says, “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire…”

Friends, I am so hopeful. I have seen the eager young faces at SEEK24. I have spoken to, marched with, and fellowshipped with beautiful families, religious, and CCL alum at the Eucharistic Congress. Through this Eucharistic Revival and Jubilee Year, we are called to go forth to evangelize. To boldly spreading the Good News of Christ’s Eucharistic love and mercy in word and deed. The time is now, and we are ready.

Successful Revival

Bishop Barron concluded with, “Your job – bring the light of Christ out into the secular world. This great revival will have been a failure if we don’t change our society; if we don’t stream forth from this place with the light of Christ.” Imagine the culture of life we will create if each of us goes forth and shares NFP. Share with a friend, a daughter, a coworker, the couple sitting in the pew next to you. Living out true love, willing the good of the other, means boldly sharing God’s plan and bringing them into the fold.
