Beginning Again This Lent

Written by Katie Zulanas

We invite you to join us in our meditations of the stations with thoughts from the saints. Our overall theme this year and this Lent will be “Begin Again,” inspired by Saint Francis de Sales who tells us: “It is right that you should begin again every day. There is no better way to complete the spiritual life than to be ever beginning it over again.”

This makes good sense as we recommit ourselves to renewing and expanding teaching couple to couple, while also keeping our commitment to supporting couples through a lifetime of fertility and our evangelistic outreach with Fertility Science Institute.

So, let’s start with profound gratitude for the gift of Humanae Vitae and its teaching and the beautiful work of our CCL family of volunteers — both teaching couples and promoters, board members and staff members.

Then let us ask God for the gift of wisdom as we “begin again.” Asking for forgiveness for any misunderstandings and for detachment from any one system of idea of how to do things.

Does this mean we discount the wonderful legacy of work? No! Rather, it let’s us look at it dispassionately, and ask for God to guide us in His will alone.

We ask you to join us in asking the Holy Spirit to let us rededicate ourselves to sharing the gift of Humanae Vitae — to turn our imaginations over to God’s will to allow him to renew the face of the earth.
