A Novena for Pregnancy

Via http://www.philomena.org/ patroness.asp

Young St. Philomena has been such a powerful intercessor, she’s actually the only saint who was canonized on the grounds of intercession alone. While miracles have been reported regarding a whole span of requests, she’s known as the patroness of babies, infants, and youth. It’s unsurprising, then, that she’s taken a special place in hearts of many infertile couples desperately longing to grow their family.

Whatever your intention (but especially if you or a loved one is struggling with fertility!), Philomena’s your gal. This novena (nine days of consecutive, focused prayer) can be prayed at any time, but if you want to end on her feast day, you should recite the novena once a day, beginning on August 3rd.

If you get a late start or forget a day, don’t let that discourage you pressing on! Novenas aren’t some magic formula that bring about change, but an ongoing nine-day conversation with a saint asking him/her to pray for an specific intention. Just like a missed phone call shouldn’t prevent you from talking to your mom, a missed day of a novena shouldn’t stop you from asking the Communion of Saints to raise your prayers up to God!

Below is the novena prayer St. Philomena Novena (or St. Philovena, if you will), courtesy of PrayMoreNovenas.com.

Dearest St. Philomena, your prayers are powerful because you are so close to Our Lord. Your child-like faith and devotion are an inspiration to all of the faithful. Many miracles have occurred as a result of your intercession. In your closeness to Our Lord, please lift up these my intentions in prayer…

(state your intentions)

St. Philomena, at such a young age, you gave everything to Jesus to be come a consecrated virgin for the Kingdom. Giving even more, you gave your live as you suffered a martyr’s death to preserve your gift to our Lord. Pray for me, that I might have the same faith and willingness to accept God’s will no matter the cost.

Amen.
