It’s National NFP Awareness Week!

Not only is this week National NFP Awareness Week, but today is also the 43rd anniversary of the issuance of Humanae Vitae by Pope Paul VI. While most of the world pays little or no heed to the Holy Father’s prophetic wisdom in that encyclical letter, those of us who (for the most part) happily use NFP thank our heavenly Father for continuing to give us shepherds who hold fast to His truth. We see those truths as they are lived out in our marriages and families, and know that they are a pearl of great price, worthy of some sacrificial living.
For me and my husband, we are grateful to have used nothing but NFP in our 27+ years of marriage. We have successfully managed our fertility from our wedding day into premenopause without any help from the medical profession. And doing this together, as a couple, is a part of our relationship that we cherish. It has helped us be better spouses to each other.
How about you?
In honor of NFP Awareness Week, we will be doing a few giveaways in the coming days. We will start by giving one reader a copy of both CCL-published booklets by Fr. Richard Hogan, who recently passed away. Is NFP Good? and The Human Body combine to provide easy-to-understand arguments and explanations for why the Church remains steadfast in its teaching against contraception. We will select one winner randomly from those who comment on this post by the close of NFP Awareness Week (Sunday, July 31 at midnight) and tell us how long they have been using NFP.
