CCL Clergy Seminars

CCL began hosting seminars for clergy in 1997 in an effort to bolster the knowledge of priests and deacons on Catholic teaching regarding sexuality and how Natural Family Planning (NFP) and breastfeeding complement God's plan for families.

The seminar provides a brief background into the history of NFP and some specifics of the method — common signs of fertility and infertility, how breastfeeding naturally spaces babies, and applying the "natural" approach to different situations a couples face, such as cycle irregularities, premenopause, marginal fertility. We have found that this information provides clergy the confidence they need to sincerely recommend this form of birth regulation to engaged and married couples.

Along with method-related information, the faculty also provide many practical, pastoral suggestions on handling the issue of cohabitation, dealing with the contraceptive mentality, and integrating NFP into a marriage preparation program. Attendees also hear about the long-term effects and benefits to their parish that can be expected when more and more couples embrace the NFP lifestyle, and how CCL can offer its support as they bring this important teaching to the couples of their parish.
