The Couple to Couple League Mourns the Death of Pope John Paul II

Cincinnati, Ohio (April 3, 2005) — The Couple to Couple League International, Inc. joins its voice to that of millions worldwide expressing deep sorrow over the death of Pope John Paul II on Saturday.

“A humble giant among men, Pope John Paul II leaves this world after making an indelible mark upon humanity,” said Andrew B. Alderson, Couple to Couple League Executive Director. “His impact may not be fully known and understood for years.”

Among his many legacies, those in the Couple to Couple League (CCL) will remember him most for his unparalled vision and leadership in teaching the world about the great gift of marital sexuality. The Pope brought new understanding to the meaning of marital love in his series of talks from 1979 to 1984 which is popularly known as the “Theology of the Body.”

Additionally, the Pope’s unwavering voice for the sanctity of life, from conception to natural death, has long been a source of inspiration and strength for the untold thousands who work in and pray for the advancement of pro-life causes worldwide.

“For over 25 years, Pope John Paul II has been a brilliant light in the often dark times of modern society,” Anderson said. “To say he will be missed is such an understatement. We have truly lost a father.”

The Couple to Couple League International, Inc., based in Cincinnati, Ohio, was founded in 1971 to teach engaged and married couples the Sympto-Thermal Method of Natural Family Planning. It is the largest provider of NFP services in the United States.
