Overview of CCL’s Teacher Training Program
CCL Teaching Couples teach as volunteers, thus there is no fee for the League’s Teacher Training Program. Any materials necessary for the training program that you do not already have will be provided to you free of charge as well. The training program was designed to be in full compliance with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Diocesan Development Plan (DDP) standards. It is an online program and comprised of seven training “modules:”
- Introduction (INTR)

- Management (MNGT)
- Theological Thought of John Paul II (THOL)
- NFP Methodology (NFPM)
- Presentation (PRES)
- Transitions (TRAN)
- Breastfeeding (BRFD)
Each module is composed of a series of courses that present a particular set of topics and/or skills. Some courses have required readings; others involve some practical exercises (i.e., chart interpretation, writing a witness talk). Most of the courses culminate with an online test, which require a particular passing score in order to move forward. Tests are “open-book-open-notes.” At any point in the training, you may request assistance from CCL Central, and/or you may retake tests until a passing score is achieved.
After completion of the online teacher training courses, you will participate in a mentoring program while teaching your first NFP class series. This program is designed to support the new Teaching Couple and help build their confidence.
The online program could take about three to four months to complete, depending on personal schedules and motivation — it has been done in as little time as several weeks — and mentoring also lasts a few months, but by that time you will already be teaching.
Application Process
The first step is to read the Principles of CCL, and then complete the Teaching Couple Application Form. If you have any questions after reading this information, please contact Rich Braun at CCL Central, 800-745-8252, ext. 3105.
