Childcare/Teens
Children attending Convention 2008 will have a variety of activities for the three full days (Wednesday, July 30, at 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1). Children will be registered based on the grade they completed for the 2007-2008 school year. (For example, if your child will complete sixth grade next Spring, then he or she will be registered with the day-camp group. See groups below.)
Childcare groups and Costs
- Preschool age (birth to completed kindergarten) cost $20 per child per day, or $60 per convention, per child
- Day-camp age (completed first to sixth grade) cost $20 per child per day, or $60 per convention, per child
- Teens (completed seventh grade to senior in high school) cost $20 per person per day, or $60 per convention, per child
- Special Needs Children (One on one care) cost $10 per hour/per child or a total of $60 per child per day or a total of $180 per convention. (This price is subject to a possible $1.00 increase by 2008)
It is Ridgecrest policy that parents will not under any circumstances be allowed to move their children into a different age group. No childcare will be provided to families registering just for a day attendance. You must attend the full convention in order to register your children for childcare.
Parents will be responsible for dropping off their children and picking up their children who are enrolled in preschool and day camp. Teens will have a designated area for reporting, and where their group leader will meet them.
A complete childcare schedule for the pre-school and day-camp groups will be posted on the convention website by late Fall, 2007.
The free teen activities will include volleyball, softball, kickball, disc golf, gym with basketball courts, hiking trails, lake fishing (bring fishing gear, catch and release) quiet or reading time, mini 18 hole golf, and a couple of mini talks by adult speakers

Preschool will be broken into five units, birth-1 yr olds, 1-2 yr olds, 3-4 yr olds, 4-5 year olds and completed kindergarten. The above schedule reflects the general schedule for each unit except birth-1 yr olds. (There are no specified, scheduled activities on the childcare schedule for children under one year of age because they are so young.) The teaching and activities in each unit will vary based on the age of the children. Learning Center activities can include, but are not limited to, watercolors, drawing in wet sand, animal books & puzzles, food mural, body trace, bubble mural, tinker toys, make friendship bracelet, building blocks, & play-dough. Note: Parents must pick their children up for lunch. |

Day Camp will be broken into three units, completed 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, and 5th & 6th grade. The above schedule reflects the general schedule for each unit. The teaching and activities in each unit will vary based on the age of the children. Parents are asked to bring swimming attire for their children in Day Camp; there will be one afternoon of water games. Ridgecrest has asked that boys bring swim trunks and girls bring one-piece suits. The schedule for Day Camp is less structured because of the children's ages. As this is a Day Camp setting, the children will be spending a lot of time outdoors weather permitting. Day Camp activities include chalk drawing, crafts, play-dough creativity, garden planting and other interactive activities based on age. Parents must pick their children up for lunch. |
